Summary: Almost perfect 2008-10-28
Comment: I have generation the 2.0 diapers and I love them and rate them almost perfect except for 2 annoying problems.
These made a cloth convert out of everyone who has diapered my son! They are easy to use and not-intimidating. You don't have to be in "the cloth diaper know" to be successful. And to any daycare center that gives you grief and won't accept your child in cloth diapers--explain they are just like disposables (roll them up with the poop inside, fold the tabs over to contain the mess) and give them a Diaper Genie to dispose of the dirties in. Most centers think they will be responsible for the rinsing, soaking, and storage and that is why they usually object.
Now onto my problems with them. I have been using these for my son for the last 16 months. In that time I have found the Aplix velcro bothersome and here is why. You are recomended to fold the velcro onto the washing tab on the back of the diaper to hold the diaper open for washing. Well after many, many washes the velcro gets full of fuzzies, hair, lint, etc and does not stick well to the washing tab or to the diaper to hold it closed around my son. I have in-vain sat and picked the fuzz out of the velcro tab, which on 20 diapers is a time consuming process. I have picked out by hand, with a seam ripper, sciccors, etc and ultimately have accidently ripped the stiches that held the velcro on the tab and had to re-sew it. The whole velcro tab problem was solved for in 1.0 generation diapers when the side tabs had the same snaps that the waist has for making the diaper adjustable. I guess consumers wanted more adjustments around the waist and thus, the Aplix was substituted for the snaps. The velcro not sticking well is was not a problem until my son started to crawl and then walk. So I figured out a way around the problem, I use a Snappi across his stomach from tab to tab to hold on the diaper.
Problem 2: Unless you have a perfectly proportioned child, these diapers may not fit upto 35 pounds. My son is tall, slim with slim legs but has a 'pot belly' and while the diapers fit in the rise they no longer fit well around the waist or in the legs. When the snaps are opened to fit the rise, they make the leg holes bigger. So there are gaps in the legs for leakage.
I would recomend BumGenius again and again, but beware these may not take you from birth to potty training as advertised.

Summary: Make the change - you won't regret it! 2008-10-17
Comment: I love BG's . . . they are cute, easy to use and simple to wash. Yes, it is more laundry - but I haven't bought diapers in 6 months!!!! I just run them at night (the load is long) and re-rinse in the AM. My little one has skin issues and this helps so much (along w/ some extra rinsing - 3 usually).
Buy in bulk and you can save (another website). Plus, you will be the talk of mommy groups! AND . . . did I mention how cute you LO will be!
PLUS, there is a major resell market out there . . . so you can make your $$$ back!

Summary: The best Cloth Diaper around 2008-10-08
Comment: I wanted to use cloth diapers for two reasons the saving of money and also the reduction of waste. I have used fitted diapers as well as these and love these by far. I have found them easier than I thought and not half as gross either. They have contained my little ones many explosions very well, even better than some of the disposables I have used. I have found them very easy to wash and are no more extra work than an extra load of washing every couple of days. I have 18 in different colours for me that is enough. I also live in an apartment and so I found it a real pain buying disposables and carry them up and then disposing them once used. I would encourage everyone to give these a go. And since they are one size fits all with the snaps you never have to buy any more and are very economic. They also become more economic the more children you use them on. They come with 2 inserts which I have found enough for my needs. I had one defective snap on an insert and got a replacement sent very quickly from the makers of Bum Genius. So even the customer service is great. I really can't say enough great things.
Edit: Make sure you keep your proof of purchase as they come with a year warranty.

Summary: I wish I had found these sooner 2008-09-22
Comment: When my daughter was born my only thought on what kind of diapers to use was disposable. After all aren't all the cloth diapers akward and high maintenance? I used disposable diapers for over a year before I saw an article in a Parenting magazine that peaked my interest. The article was on cloth diapers and how they have evolved. The article listed several brands so I figured the best thing to do for someone who knows next to nothing about them was to try one of each. I decided to go for the pocket diapers since they were so close to the disposable diapers I was used to. So I ordered Fuzzibunz, Happy Heinie, BumGenius pocket diapers, as well as a bamboo diaper (not a pocket diaper, but hey, I wanted to see what a bamboo diaper was like). I immediately found myself favoring the BumGenius because they were so much like the fit of the disposable diapers. BumGenius diapers breathe so well and fit so well that there are no leaks and my daughter has had no diaper rashes since we switched to cloth diapers. These are fantastic diapers and even though I'm only going to use them for about another year or two, they are still saving me money! These diapers clean up well too. For poopie diapers, simply empty the poo into the toilet, pull the pad out of the pocket and wash. Diapers can be kept in a clean, dry pail for up to 4 days if you can't wash immediately. I would recommend washing every other day at least because the diapers can get a strong ammonia smell to them if you don't wash them right away. Basically, these are the best cloth diapers that I've ever tried and I highly recommend them to anyone interested in using cloth diapers.

Summary: Best Cloth Diapers Out There! 2008-09-22
Comment: I have been using my BG 3.0's on my twins since they were six weeks old and I love them. I bought 28 during my pregnancy and put them on the babies as soon as they were big enough and I've never had a leak which is more than I can say for the disposables I used before I was using these. I have to wash diapers every other day and by paying close attention to the manufacturers guidlines, they have washed up perfectly and my babies tushies stay rash free and healthy. Great product, I hope they last through potty training but only time will tell.
