timi & leslie Chantal Convertible Baby Bag - Green

I'm about to have my third child and am tired of cutesy Pooh diaper bags. It has been quite a while since I had a little one in diapers. I have become accustomed to being able to carry a nice purse. I enjoy matching my purses with outfits and moods. I was a little sad to have to go back to my diaper bag ways. After some research into the matter though, I was delighted to discover the new trend of purse-looking diaper bags. I, and you, do not have to resort to cutesy stuff. You do not have to wear a cotton bag with embroidered bunnies! We can all have nice diaper bags that look like nice purses. What a wonderful change!

I heard good things about Timi and Leslie, so I looked into them online and happily discovered they're on a good sale everywhere. I would honestly have preferred one of their leather bags, but this one was cheaper and I loved the doctor's bag style opening (more on that later).

I just received this bag. I haven't put it to use yet, as the baby has not arrived. However, these are my thoughts:
The bag is very cool looking. I was looking for a "not-so-diaper-bag" diaper bag, and this is it!
It is large and seems as though it will hold quite a bit.
There is a changing pad, an unattached insulated bottle holder, a mini purse for mom, a bag for soiled clothes, one outside pocket and a few inside pockets.
I think I probably won't end up using the bottle holder as it seems to take up a lot of space, but we shall see.
I also have two other functionality concerns: the double purse straps as I tend to have a hard time keeping these types of straps on my shoulders, and the bag's clasp as I wonder how long it will survive all the inevitable openings and closings before it gives out.
These concerns are why this bag received only 4 stars. As far as appearance, it's definitely a 5!

The first Timi and Leslie bag I bought was heaven - I still have it and it has held up. This one doesn't measure up. Within the first day, the bag pulled away from the frame. I fixed it multiple times and the bag wasn't even that full, and it kept pulling out. It was a total disaster, diapers falling out everywhere. The idea is great - the fabric is nice, the frame lets you get into the bag easily, and the pockets are fantastic and organized. HOWEVER, the nice materials Timi and Leslie used to use are not in evidence here. The thick waterproof interior on their bags has been replaced with a tissue thin, crackly, cheap lining. The construction is horrible, and it feels cheap cheap cheap. Too bad, I used to love this brand. INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING. Don't waste your money. Look for something better.
